Bio
I started getting into drawing in 2019, dabbling with coloured pencils and doing pet commissions for close friends and family. It began as a method of switching off from daily life but grew into a passion and became my career.
I loved Art at school completing works in a range of mediums from subtle and soft landscapes in watercolour to dramatic realism portraits in pastels. I took art at higher and advanced higher levels however I overlooked art as any sort of career and left it behind to work various jobs in hospitality, marketing and accounts. In 2021 I took the plunge and began to focus on my art as not just a hobby but a career path, advertising my work online and promoting on social media, it gained a lot of traction and I was able to create a business, earning enough for it to become my primary source of income.
I was brought up in rural Dumfries & Galloway with a menagerie of animals including horses, sheep, ducks, chickens, dogs, cats and even some reptiles and exotic insects. Currently I have a Lakeland x Patterdale Terrier Ruby (Pictured above helping me get some good photos of the ewe lambs) who I love dearly. She will often be found sitting at my feet or behind me in my chair as I Draw. I try and channel this love I have for Ruby into all the portraits I do. Knowing what I am creating is going to someone who loves their pet as much as I do really is wonderful.
I currently live with my partner in a converted bothy on his beef and sheep farm near Moniaive. I am so lucky to live up in the hills where I can gather lots of inspiration from the livestock and wildlife, channelling it into my artwork. This new life on the farm has gave me a greater understanding of how passionate farmers are about their livestock. I have seen a marked increase in Livestock commissions over the past few years. Drawing cows and sheep is never something I had initially planned but it has grown into something I am very passionate about.
